Cannabis in India – After Taking Ganja

Bhang has been consumed in India for thousands of years. It is counted among the 5 great plants in the Atharveda. Before 1985, there was no restriction in this, but then Rajiv Gandhi’s government brought 1985 NDPS which is called (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985) and ganja was banned.

Many people say that hemp is a big threat to health, while some point towards its medical benefits. In the last few decades, the demand for its legality has increased. As a result, Cannabis is legalized in some countries.

It is also known by many other nicknames

  • Marijuana
  • weed
  • stuff
  • Goods
  • grass

But its scientific name is cannabis

Types of cannabis Plants

Cannabis is a plant that has many varieties, in which two varieties are the most famous one. Contains Cannabis Sativa and Cannabis Indica and the third one is Cannabis ruderalis. . Cannabis is called Bhang plant in Hindi and from this plant three drugs are prepared, namely:

  • Ganja
  • Bhang
  • Charas

Ganja – Hemp is prepared from the follower of cannabis, usually it is dried and then its smoke is inhaled. But there are various other ways to eat and drink from it.

Charas– Charas is prepared from resin derived from Cannabis. The sticky material that comes out of the cannabis plant is called resin in Hindi. It is also called Hashish or Hash, which means that only Charash is called Hashish or Hash.

Bhang – Bhang is the form of Cannabis, that’s made by grinding the leaves and seeds of cannabis. Then it is consumed by eating and drinking.

What happens to my body when I get intoxicated with them?

The three types of Cannabis plant, which are Bhang, charas and ganja are psychoactive drugs that create a stir in the mind. If I speak in common language, then intoxication starts. When they start getting intoxicated, what happens in the body?

Here we need to understand a little chemistry and biology. Cannabis plant contains some special type of chemical which is called cannabinoid. There are about 150 types of cannabinoids found inside cannabis, out of which two chemicals are special, THC and CBD. The full name of THC is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. THC is the most addictive of all. The more THC there is, the more intoxicating it will be. CBD does the opposite of THC, it reduces the psychoactive effects of THC. CBD sometimes proves to be helpful in cases of anxiety and stress. The amount of THC and Sabad in both of these decides how intoxicated someone will be, especially the amount of such chemicals.

But how does THC make someone high? Whatever we think, we do it through the brain and the brain does it through the neuron. Neuron is the postman that works to send and transmit messages through which messages are exchanged. During the intoxication of ganja, play is done with these neurons.

The cannabinoid receptors in the neuron are hated, meaning some places where cannabinoids can fit in. You can think of a kind of chair which is made for that only. In which only cannabinoids can fit. Cannabinoid receptors can be fitted or set only by cannabinoids. The receptor leg of cannabinoid can be found only by other receptors. Some of these cannabinoid receptors go to THC and play with the neuron of the brain, which means thereon the intoxication starts.

Reactions with certain parts of the brain

There is already a cannabinoid receptor in our brain, but it is not for any other kind of intoxication like that of hemp, but it is for the endocannabinoid system that is made inside the body because cannabismoide is made inside our body itself and it is called endocannabinoid. | These endocannabinoids are made or made for the cannabinoid receptor which is made inside our body. A cannabinoid is formed inside our body, which is called Anandamide, its meaning is taken from the Sanskrit stupa, which can also be called Anand + Mid or Bliss. Now when and how does this joy become, many times we have to jump or do such work in which there is a signal from both the mind and the body. Also, in the cases where you are doing that work and you have done it beyond the limit, after that the joy that comes makes you feel satisfied. Then there is a different movement in your mind, which is called anandamide. Such work, like a pressure reaches the mind, so that there is a feeling of peace in the mind. If I say in even simpler words, then every work with which you are doing very hard and after that, whatever you get, that is called endocannabinoid. There are 11 organ systems in our body which are called integumentary system, skeletal system, muscular system, lymphatic system, respiratory system, digestive system, nervous system, endocrine system, cardiovascular system, urinary system, and reproductive systems and these 11 organ systems are endocannabinoid. It gets divided after it is made or according to the need.

The amazing thing is that the THC present in cannabis mimics the same set of functioning like that of anandamide. When someone consumes ganja, it travels through his blood to the cannabinoid receptor of the brain. The higher the quantity, the more intoxicant it will be in those parts. There are three parts of our brain where there is a significant amount of cannabinoid receptors.

  • Hippo Campus
  • cerebellum
  • cell ganglia

These three areas are where the cannabinoid receptor concentration is at the highest levels. When chemicals like THC or CBD get into these parts, they affect the functioning of our brain, due to which people feel pleasure in short term memory, coordination, learning and problem solving. Time perception is also hurt, due to which people do not understand, it can be different for each person, pleasure or intoxication. But all this happens after taking things like ganja, charas and it happens for some time. But if it is done for a long time, then it can have a bad effect on the mind that means your thinking and understanding may get affected, but there is no specific proof of this. The US National Academy of Science Engineering and Medical researched the review of marijuana and found that it can prove to be dangerous for some people. The question is which kind of people can have bad effects, this category of people includes people like pregnant women or people with mental health disorder. Its excessive consumption leads to addiction and there is restlessness where one doesn’t gets this for consumption. Its medical benefits have also been proved in the research reviews of the United States Academy.

  • Cancer
  • Heart Disease
  • Pain
  • Diabetes
  • Treating Anxiety Disorder
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Insomnia
  • Colitis
  • Appetite
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Alzheimer’s
  • Epilepsy
  • Glaucoma
  • Muscle Spasm
  • Fibromyalgia (FM)
  • Lungs
  • Covid

Some of these get proof to cure and other diseases are also said to have benefits. Even though there is no firm proof of this, but the work is still going on or research is going on.

Higher Authorities Views on Cannabis Medicines in India

In the last few days, there has been an increase in demand for providing legal status to cannabis medicines. Before that, we should know the logic of its legalization.

Delhi and Mumbai come under the top 10 list in terms of its consumption. Even after being made in India, it is selling very fast. If we talk that in countries where it is legal, the amount of THC and CBD is written on the top of the packet, so that people can take it according to their needs, but in the countries where selling of hemp is done in a wrong way, the procedure is not the same. There is no information as to how much THC and CBD are there. Incorrectly sourced hemp is high in THC and CBD. As we know that wine drinkers are aware what percentage of alcohol is in wine, similarly hemp drinkers should know that the amount of THC and CBD present in their drink. It is said that working with wine and cigarettes is harmful and also that they merely contain any medical benefits. When it comes to consumption of cannabis infused drinks or other substances there has not been a single thing stating that anyone has died due to the consumption of ganja, as it happens due to alcohol or other drugs. By the way, every drug is addictive and a doctor’s prescription is necessary if you wish to adopt a substance that contains potential health benefit.
